The Welser Heide wastewater association has been operating the regional wastewater treatment plant in Marchtrenk since 1985, where the wastewater from the member municipalities and from the municipalities of Eggendorf and Pennewang is treated. The wastewater treatment plant is designed for a capacity of 210,000 population equivalents and processes up to 30,000 m³ of wastewater every day. The treated wastewater is discharged into the River Traun under strict official regulations.
Drone scanning
The entire facility was scanned using a drone to enable comprehensive digital recording. In a later step, a detailed interior scan was carried out for each building (section).
BIM as-built modeling
The laser scans created served as the basis for the BIM as-built modeling, whereby the wastewater treatment plant was converted into a digital model.
Documentation and digitization of the inventory
In order to take the sewage treatment plant one step further towards digitization, the entire inventory was digitally recorded. This replaced the previous paper-based documentation and makes it much easier to search for, use and update documents, plans and operating information.
Unique data and information source
A central, shared CDE (Common Data Environment) was used as the only mandatory source of information for all project participants. This CDE was provided by EDS 4.0 in coordination with the client.
Support for replanning and expansion
The files and as-built surveys provided in the CDE served as the basis for the as-built model of the wastewater treatment plant. This model enables specialist planners to present various conversion options and evaluate them together with the client and the general contractor.
Support for the plant management concept
The plant was optimally prepared and digitalized for the operating phase through the use of suitable software. This enables efficient management and maintenance of the plant.
